IPSWICH: The Oil Firing Technical Association (OFTEC) is urging private landlords in Scotland to take advantage of the recently-launched Scottish Landlord Boiler Scrappage Scheme.
Since 9 November, eligible landlords can claim £400 off the cost of a new boiler on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The scheme was launched by the Scottish Government in an attempt to help reduce CO2 emissions and reduce fuel costs for tenants.
Boilers eligible for the grant have a G-rated efficiency of 70% or less and must be replaced by an efficient new boiler as recommended by the Energy Saving Trust.
OFTEC's director general, Jeremy Hawksley, said: "There are over 93 000 households in Scotland which use oil heating. This scheme will benefit tenants who use oil boilers by reducing their fuel bills by up to 25%."
